FETHULLAH GULEN: THE PENNSYLVANIA PASHA FINALLY EXPOSED

MEET “THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS ISLAMIST”

HE LIVES NOT IN PAKISTAN BUT PENNSYLVANIA

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

Who is Fethullah Gulen?

The Turkish pasha presents himself as a moderate Muslim who espouses peace, goodwill, and interfaith dialogue.

He has produced a documentary to attack the claims against his movement that have been made on this website – – including the claim that he maintains an armed fortress in Saylorsburg, PA.

But trips to Gulen’s complex prove otherwise.

His neighbors have complained of fully automatic gunfire erupting from his complex and of a low flying helicopter that combs the area in search of any intruders.

Is Gulen really a benign old Muslim gentleman who retired to the Pocono Mountains from his native Turkey for reasons of health?

Is he really an educator of international renown?

Has he really captured the love and admiration of political and religious leaders, including Hillary Clinton and Pope John Paul II?

Or is he the alleged “most dangerous Islamist on planet earth, a committed jihadi who manifests the Muslim practice of taqiyya and seeks to establish a universal caliphate ruled by shariah?

Little about Gulen, as U.S. Attorney Patrick Meehan discovered, is known – – not even his date of birth. Some of his followers maintain that he was born in 1934; others 1938; and still others 1942.

On his website, Gulen says that he received the UNECO award from Pope John Paul II in October, 2005.

But the John Paul II died on April 2, 2005.

Gulen, in his application for permanent residency in the United States, maintained that he was “an educator of extraordinary ability and renown.”

But Gulen does not possess an elementary school education, let alone a high school diploma. He is semi-literate and speaks no English.

To substantiate his ability and renown, Gulen, on his application, provides a long list of his scholarly works. But all of his works have been published by The Light Publishing Company and Tughra Press, two firms that are owned by the Gulen movement.

Gulen states that his works are the subject of entire courses in schools throughout the country. Maybe they constitute the subject of classes in the Gulen charter schools that he has established throughout Central Asia, Europe, and the United States. But not one leading college or university offers a course on Gulen and his educational philosophy.

In his application, Gulen further maintains that he has delivers scholarly addresses to gatherings of scholars and academics. But no audio or video evidence, let alone first-hand report, exists that these speeches were ever delivered.

Who is Fethullah Gulen?

Are the hundreds of charter schools that he has established throughout the U.S.A. really places where children are indoctrinated in the principles of political Islam and the plot to restore the Ottoman Empire?

The answers come from Gulen himself. In 1999, Turkish television aired footage of Gülen delivering sermons to a crowd of followers, Gulen revealed his aspirations for an Islamist Turkey ruled by Shari‘a (Islamic law) as well as the methods that should be used to attain that goal by saying:

“You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers … until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this. If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 [in] Syria … like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right.

You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it …

You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey … Until that time, any step taken would be too early—like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside.

The work to be done is [in] confronting the world. Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all—in confidence … trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here—[just] as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here.”

He continued:

When everything was closed and all doors were locked, our houses of isik [light] assumed a mission greater than that of older times. In the past, some of the duties of these houses were carried out by madrasas [Islamic schools], some by schools, some by tekkes [Islamist lodges] … These isik homes had to be the schools, had to be madrasas, [had to be] tekkes all at the same time. The permission did not come from the state, or the state’s laws, or the people who govern us. The permission was given by God … who wanted His name learned and talked about, studied, and discussed in those houses, as it used to be in the mosques.”

In another sermon, Gülen said:

“Now it is a painful spring that we live in. A nation is being born again. A nation of millions [is] being born—one that will live for long centuries, God willing … It is being born with its own culture, its own civilization. If giving birth to one person is so painful, the birth of millions cannot be pain-free. Naturally we will suffer pain.

It won’t be easy for a nation that has accepted atheism, has accepted materialism, a nation accustomed to running away from itself, to come back riding on its horse. It will not be easy, but it is worth all our suffering and the sacrifices.”

And, in yet another sermon, he told his followers:

“The philosophy of our service is that we open a house somewhere and, with the patience of a spider, we lay our web to wait for people to get caught in the web; and we teach those who do. We don’t lay the web to eat or consume them but to show them the way to their resurrection, to blow life into their dead bodies and souls, to give them a life.”

What takes place in the Gulen charter schools that receive millions from the American taxpayer?

Noted Middle Eastern scholar Rachel Sharon-Krespin writes: “His (Gulen’s) followers target youth in the eighth through twelfth grades, mentor and indoctrinate them in the ışıkevi, educate them in the Fethullah schools, and prepare them for future careers in legal, political, and educational professions in order to create the ruling classes of the future Islamist, Turkish state.”

Even more telling is a comment from Nurettin Veren, Gulen’s right hand man for 35 years, who says: “These schools are like shop windows. Recruitment and Islamization are carried out through night classes.”

Is Gulen really dangerous and a threat to the United States and the Western World?

Gulen, on his website, says that he came to the United States in 1998 for reasons of health, since he allegedly suffers from diabetes.

But, in truth, Gulen fled his native Turkey to avoid prosecution on charges that he was attempting to undermine Turkey’s secular government with the objective of establishing an Islamic government.

Court records show that he possesses more than $25 billion in financial assets.

Under the Justice and Development Party – – Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP – – a party which Gulen created from his headquarters in Pennsylvania and Houston, Texas – – the reclusive pasha has gained control of the Turkish government.

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a Gulen disciple – – as is Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul.

Thanks to such Islamists, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – – one for every 350- citizens – – the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – – and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

His movement with six million adherents has spread throughout Central Asia and has served to unite such newly created Russian republics as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan into a pan-Islamic state.

These countries were populated by Turks – – Turks who were once part of the Ottoman Empire – – Turks who still speak Turkish and practice Turkish customs.

Turkey, under the AKP, has forged a strong alliance with Iran. This alliance was largely achieved through the workings of the Gulen movement among the Azeri population of Iran who speak Turkish rather than Farsi.

In the wake of the AKP’ attempt to lead a fleet of ships, filled with pro-Palestinian activists, through the Gaza blockade on May 31, Turkey has strengthened its ties to Syria, Lebanon and much of the Muslim world. Placards depicting the smiling face of Tayyip Erdogan are omnipresent in Saudi Arabia.

Gulen’s dream of creating a universal caliphate is becoming a reality, and he has garnered support from such Us dignitaries as Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

In May, Gulen created his latest lobbying group in Washington, D.C. – – the Assembly of Turkic Federations (ATAF), which already has shelled out millions to American politicians so that they will remain sensitive to his efforts to further the cause of militant Islam.

ATAF celebrated its formation with a gala celebration in a plush lounge of the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Among those in attendance were U.S. Senators Richard Lugar, Robert Casey, Frank Lautenberg, Jeff Ningaman, Roger Wicker, Mark Warner, Kay Hagen, and fifty-three members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

feto s islamic mafia brought bad reputation for turkish people who live in arizona, utah and texas . shame on them

  2. Jack Williams says:

Ha ha, looks like Mr. Williams is running out of new intelligence from his institution. This time he had to repeat what he has said about Mr. Gulen so far. Nothing new… Just garbage… As usual…

  3. Therese says:

Move over “The Marx Brothers”. This is one of the funniest photos I have seen of any comedian, past or present and he is for real. Mel Brooks would wipe the floor with these fools. I bet the Marx brothers could make a great movie on this bloke and I am sure Hollywood could make the funniest movie out of these hysterical characters. Like C Chaplin’s “The great Dictator”. They are just so funny. Perhaps we should laugh them out of existence, but as we all know – Islam has no sense of humour.

  4. AmericatheBrave says:

Indeed one of the funniest! On facebook there are several Turkish sites that are anti-Gulen and they actually have the videos where Gulen sniffles like a baby while reading the Q’uran. Reminds me of the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakers, or Swaggert–with a touch of Heavens Gate, David Koresh (Branch Davidian) and Jim Jones Cults.
We all know how they ended up now don’t we. Keep posting all this new information it is GREAT!!!

  5. Therese says:

Just a matter of time AmericatheBrave. Keep laughing, they cant stand it. Was in touch with a dear friend Meliha two days ago – they have the fighting spirit, but women are still worried in Turkey. She was one who got out of a marriage where she was beaten for years by her husband, then she had the hide to get half of the family homes. He was not a happy man. She fears very gravely if this Erdogan government remains in control. And so do I.

    AmericatheBrave, have you seen this?

Turkish columnist says that “liberal Muslim” Mustafa Akyol is actually an Islamic supremacist working for restoration of caliphate
Recently I had an interesting exchange with the self-described “liberal Muslim” Mustafa Akyol, after he declared his support for the jihad flotilla that Turkey sent against Israel. And so I read this piece by the Turkish columnist Burak Bekdil with great interest: he characterizes the “liberal” Akyol as a pro-Sharia, pro-Erdogan Islamic supremacist. But undoubtedly a sly one.

Bekdil even says that Akyol is working to further “Islamists’ global ambition to play the modern day, Muslim Trojan Horse at the gates of western civilization.”

What? An Islamic supremacist posing as a moderate to fool gullible Westerners? It’s unheard of!

“Where Islamists and post-modern Islamists come together,” by Burak Bekdil in the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review, July 20:

I regret for having to devote this space to a reply to my column neighbor Mustafa Akyol’s “reply to my reply to his reply to an op-ed I wrote” last week (“Would Mr. Erdoğan kindly care for this Muslim woman?,” July 8, 2010).
When I wrote that piece, I was hoping that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan could perhaps explain the distasteful discrepancy between his selective caring for Muslims and Turks who suffer all around the world and his muteness on the tragedy of an Iranian woman of Turkish descent who was awaiting execution by stoning under a Sharia ruling.

Instead, Mr. Akyol appeared on the scene in defense of the Islamic cause with the generously common rhetoric Islamists and post-modern Islamists share to, borrowing Mr. Akyol’s description, ‘whitewash Islam’ i.e., the Islamist’s reflexive habit of going for a literalist interpretation of the Koran when in question are commandments like abstinence from pork and alcohol and his apologetic inclination toward a figurative interpretation when he thinks ‘the cause’ needs to look pretty to western friends.

Islamist Muslims (Muslims with a political agenda for the advancement of Islam both regionally and globally) have that bad habit: The perpetual feeling of fear that the western powers they need as tactical (not strategic) allies may view them with suspicion because a Muslim with a literalist interpretation of most verses of Islam’s holy book may do the same with other verses – verses that, for instance, command amputations, lashes, two women equal one man jurisprudence, sexually discriminative inheritance laws and, most importantly, hostility against other monotheistic religions, especially Judaism.

In his weekend piece, Mr. Akyol accused me for having an ad hominem attack on him probably because I asked him a few theological questions on subjects the Islamists prefer to bury deep under ground – and wrote that I did not believe Mr. Akyol was a jihadist. I was wrong to expect a more powerful text from him since his comrades have been ‘spinning better’ – an essential effort in Islamists’ global ambition to play the modern day, Muslim Trojan Horse at the gates of western civilization.

To maintain the fine ethos of our intellectual debate I would rather expect Mr. Akyol to answer my questions without dancing around them or distracting from the essential ideas and behaving too prickly and fabricating friendships between myself and people like Geert Wilders with whom I have never met or exchanged a word, electronically or verbally. But I don’t take that as an ad hominem attack. I am merely sorry for the shallow run-away demagoguery in which Mr. Akyol claimed I labeled his logic as “anti-Semitic,” something I never thought or claimed.

But Mr. Akyol did not disappoint me with his (OK, non-anti-Semitic) logic when he commented on some of the verses I mentioned (5:13, 5:14, 5:51 and 5:82). This is 5:51: “O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.” Mr. Akyol hoped to ‘whitewash’ 5:51 with 60:9: “God merely forbids you from taking as friends those who have fought you in religion, and driven you from your homes and who supported your expulsion.”

I am not going to ask Mr. Akyol why does 5:51 exist in such plain language if its real intention was what is commanded in 60:9. But since he recommends me to “get a fair sense of Islam,” I am going to ask him a couple of other questions, hoping that he might perhaps help:

This 60:9 reminds me of some episodes in recent political history! Why did the majority of the ‘devout’ Justice and Development Party, or AKP, parliamentary deputies vote in 2003 for the opening of a northern front (and later for the opening of Turkey’s airspace for U.S. bomber aircraft) in George W. Bush’s war on Iraq and ally with their ‘Christian’ American friends “who fought Muslim Iraqis, killed them, driven them from their homes and supported their expulsion?”

Why are Muslim Turkish soldiers part of a Christian alliance fighting, killing and driving Muslim Afghans from their homes? Is that halal? Does 60:9 command that Muslims can ally with Christians against other Muslims if these other Muslims chose to terrorize? Is 60:9 one of the verses that is not applicable to 21st century politics?

I am so sorry, Mr. Akyol, that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk destroyed your dreams of having an Ottoman Caliph in the year 2010 – which, as I understand, you blame on ‘anti-Islamists.’ You are right to think that the Caliphate was the political authority in the Muslim world. But I am not going to ask you how would the concept of Caliphate fit into Koranic teachings which strictly forbid associating God with anyone/anything. Nor am I going to remind you of the beauty of a faith with no clergy, or ask you how, in Islam, could a mortal – even a Caliph – speak on God’s behalf….

But do not give up, Mr. Akyol. Mr. Erdogan does not drink alcohol or sport any Hedonistic weakness. He can be your ideal revivalist Caliph in the 21st century. Alternatively, you can always have a post-modern Caliph reign the Muslim world from a predominantly Christian country where he resides.

  7. AmericatheBrave says:

Interesting piece of commentary and perspective. 3 points-
    1. First I will have to say there is no such thing as a moderate or “liberal” moslem ideologies. As your information reveals, the Q’uran specifically teaches that infidels are to be in submission to the the Islam and their slaves. This is why so many Islamic invasions upon Christian civlizations resulted in the Christians being taxed higher and treated like a farm animal.
    2. Secondly, Islam is very specific about what their goal or agenda is. that is total submission of infidels and restoring S’haria law via a Caliphate. The Ottomans did this once before with overtaking 60% of Europe and 80% of the middle east through Egypt and Northern Africa. Taking from every culture and religion in their path including the Moslem Arabic tribes. Read about T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) Britain’s officer that rallied the Arabic tribes to fight the Ottomans.
    3. Lastly, history is repeating itself, we have seen predominate Christian areas overcome by Moslems: Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq (formerly Assyria a Christian kingdom) it is happening here in America with Gulen’s indoctrination and manipulation of education, media and balony religous dialoge pretense, while engaging the help and support of high ranking politicans.

Turkey has hurt themselves badly, europe doesn’t want them and their heroin rings and lack of assimilation into society. Russia doesn’t care for them or trust them – they whipped the pants of the Turks in the Russo-Turko wars, Their Arab Moslem brothers don’t trust them. Their only credible trading partner Israel is done with them. Turkey’s only friends are Azerbaijan (which are turkish people with lots of oil) and Hamas, Hizbollah and Pakistan. Those are not great friends to have in 2010.

  8. AmericatheBrave says:

video of Gulen’s sermon, at 1:33 it gets cooking with the crying and wailing even screams from his followers. In true Islamic fashion only the men are allowed in to complete suras with Gulen.

Gulen is quite the actor and knows how to poor it on like a TV evangelist. The sura or prayers are about how Q’uran is the breath of allah, that you as Moslems will be tortured and scorn but stay on your course becuase the evil world needs us and Islam. Stay in the arteries of education, and media with spreading the word in our evil society. This is better than the Marx Brothers.

  9. serra says:

Gulen has a book “İlahi Kelimetullah ve Cihad” in which he is talking about jihad and mentioning the importance of it for a muslim. Ergün Poyraz (a Turkish writer who is in prison) wrote in one of his books how Gulen is honoring jihad in a bloody way.
According to Poyraz, Gulen says in his book “Jihad is the highest ideal for a muslim believer which he can sacrifice his life for. Because muslim believer can have the honor of strangulation in his own sweat or taking wudu (partial ablution) with his own blood just by jihad.” p:45 İlahi Kelimetullah ve Cihad.
