    Herbert Review If ever there has been a more timely novel in my life time, I am unaware of it. It is one with which every concerned American should become familiar. And which every one of our present day politicos should be forced to read, twice at least; and to confront on a daily basis.
    Webb is no fly-by-night journalist, out to make a buck or establish a career. He is a retired U.S. Army airborne ranger Lieutenant Colonel West Point graduate, legitimate Vietnam Veteran Hero with a string of combat decorations that put to shame any of our present day military commanders for what they wear on their chests as medals, and a legitimate historian by education, as well as a deeply concerned American citizen.
    The book is more than just a novel; it’s an American MEIN KAMPF, warning us of what might come to be, if we don’t catch on before it’s too late.
    Yellowstone, of course, hasn’t blown. And there hasn’t been a nuclear strike here in America. Yet. But Katrina has occurred. And the Gulf disaster is in progress; probably to influence our futures even more than would have a low level nuclear strike. The Tea Party and now the Sovereigns are growing exponentially, in large part due to our present leadership’s failure to respond to its constituency. The competition for jobs, food, shelter, a better way of life, and individual and family security has already begun. And who dares risk predicting just how close in time that first nuc will come, as a result of our leaderships failure to confront the sources of the expanding worldwide terrorism against us, and to all but ignore the even more dangerous establishing of enemy enclaves in virtually every major city of the nations which used to refer to themselves as members of “the free world?” The replacing of our way of life by crushing it, and the establishment of their way – by brutal force.
    Webb’s account has more predictive validity than did either Orwell’s 1984 or Huxley’s BRAVE NEW WORLD had upon publication. And at even more terrifying philosophical existential level it comes across on a par with Camus’ THE PLAGUE, except for the more positive conclusion, which we better all hope is the more likely.
    It’s a great piece of literature, with all the suspense of the Black Sunday movie and the action of all the Die Hards combined.
    Read it. Digest it. Because if governments are permitted to continue on their present courses, we may all soon be required to live it.
